【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedtodifferentiatebetweentheexteriordurabilityoftwoormoreadhesives.Atpresent,thisisdonebycomparingtheadhesivesasdescribedin4.5and4.6ratherthanbyassigningabsolutenumericalvaluesfordurabilityperformance.Thetestmethodasdescribedisforcomparingpotentiallong-termdurabilityratherthanforuseasaqualitycontrolprocedure.Thismakesitsuitableforresearch,adhesiveevaluation,processevaluation,andproductdesign.Amodificationcouldbemade,thatis,shortenthenumberofcyclesusedsothetestmethodwouldbesuitableforqualitycontrolinproductionmills.Theresultsobtainedforaparticularadhesivecanbeusedtoshowhowmanycyclesarerequiredforamillqualitycontroltestofthatadhesive.Thetestmethodassumesthatboil/drycyclingisanadequateandusefulacceleratedagingtechnique.Evaluationoflong-termdurabilityofadhesivesinwoodjointsundersevereserviceconditions,includingextendedexteriorexposure,isacomplexfield,andnoentirelyreliableshort-termtestisknowntoensurethatanewtypeofadhesivesystemwillsatisfactorilyresistallofthechemical,moisture,microorganism,andsolventeffectsthatsuchsevereservicemayinvolve.Exceptforeffectsofmicroorganismsandothersimilarbiologicalinfluences,thistestmethodhasprovenveryusefulforcomparisonpurposestodistinguishbetweenadhesivesystemsofdifferentdegreeofdurabilitytotheusualtemperature,moisture,andcyclicmoistureconditions.Ithasprovenveryusefultodistinguishbetweenbondlines,madewithadhesivesofprovenchemicalandbiologicaldurability,thatwereproperlyusedinproductiontoresistthemechanicalandmoistureeffectsthatsuchjointsmustwithstandinsevereserviceoverextendedperiodsofexposure.Itdoesnot,initself,assurethatnewtypesofadhesiveswillalwayswithstandactualexteriororothersevereservice.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaprocedurefortestingthedurabilityofwoodadhesivesthatmaybesuitableforexterior(wetuse)exposureconditions.Thepossibleuseofadhesivessuitableforevaluationincludes,butisnotlimitedtothoseusedforlaminatinglargemembers,manufacturingplywood,orfabricatingwoodjointssuchasfingerorscarfjoints.Thispracticeisnotsuitableforinteriortypeglues.1.2Thetestdoesnotevaluateforanybiologicaleffects.1.3Thetestsubjectsspecimenstoalargenumberofalternateboil/drycycles.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsinparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
