【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoverstherequirementsofapplyingthedesign,construction,andoperationofthemachineryandequipmentusedinmetalcastingoperationsx2014;sandpreparation,moldingandcoremaking,meltingandpouring,andcleaningandfinishing.Thispracticedoesnotapplytodiecastingoperations.1.2Purpose8212;Therequirementsofthispractice,includingthetrainingofsupervisorsandemployees,areintendedtominimizethepossibilityofinjurytooperatingandmaintenancepersonnelwhileworkingon,orinthevicinityof,thespecifiedequipment.Compliancewiththispractice,inconjunctionwithOSHAregulations,providesarelativelysafeenvironment,whichisafundamentalrequisiteinhelpingtopreventoccupationalinjuries.1.3Application1.3.1NewInstallations8212;Afterthedateofpublication,allnewinstallationswithinthescopeofthisspecificationshallbeinconformancewithitsrequirements.Anyexistingmachineinstallationmovedtoanewplantoranotherlocationinthesameplantisdeemedanewinstallationwhenitisinstalledinthenewlocation.However,anexistinginstalledmachine(formerinstallation)thatismovedforashortdistance,forexample,toprovideadditionalaislespace,isnotdeemedtobeanewinstallation.1.3.2ExistingInstallations8212;Aftertheapprovaldateofthispractice,installationsexistingon,orbefore,thisdate,shallbemodifiedasnecessarytobeinconformancewithallrequirementsofthispractice.Whereitisnotpracticaltomodifyanexistingfacilityinconformancewiththispractice,deficienciesshallbenotedandplansforcomplianceshallbeincludedinanyfuturefacilityorequipmentchanges.Thosefacilitiesandequipmentonorderorintheprocessofconstructiononthedateofpublicationofthispracticeshallbeconsideredasanexistinginstallation.Thispracticeappliestoexistingequipmentifitlacksthenecessaryemployeeprotection(personalprotectiveequipmentoradministrativecontrols).1.4Thevaluesstatedininch/poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinbracketsareforinformationonly.1.5Thetextofthispracticereferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
